Im here!

Well just outside the city technically, but I arrived in Illinois last week after a long drive from Santa Barbara.
The drive was pretty rad actually, once I got driving. If you followed my tweets about my trip, you saw a picture of my car on the flatbed of a truck. Sadly it died. It all started 6months ago when my timing belt snapped on the 405 north in Santa Monica on that big hill right near the Getty. So I had it fixed. But apparently the boys at Crown Auto either A. did a poor job in reconnecting the sensor that tells the engine to gas, or b. it broke some how.

This is a problem because when my original timing belt broke it put debris into the engine which wrecked the pistons and ruined the car. After a short rebuild it was working. The issue this time being with the gas sensor broken it rubbed up against the new timing belt, causing it to jump and damaging it. So to fix it was not a big deal but then there was no guarantee that debris didn’t once again plague my new engine, and the cost exceed the value of the car. So i sold the sucker for a quick buck, unpacked it and prepared to put everything into the rental car my mom had picked up at the airport.

Problem 2: Enterprise rental car did not allow the vehicle to travel cross country.!!!
Once again I unload my entire life and all my equipment and place it into a third car which had to be rented and were finally all set to go.

The benefit to this labor was, originally I was going to drive an overpacked and crammed 2000 Mitsubishi Gallant across country that had poor air conditioning, but I ended up taking a 2010 Ford Escape that was blacked out.
Did the trip in style.

All in all totally fun drive. Didnt stop driving after Vegas just went straight to Albuquerque, through Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Just rotated sleeping every five hours till we got here.

And thats why I havnt posted, updated, or anything major recently.

cheers,
B
